Chilean Vegetarian

Two nights ago, Mr. Happy and I were invited to dine at our Chilean friend’s apartment. He’d gotten a hankering for some real Chilean food and decided to cook some up himself for friends.

The dilemma of our chef’s evening…is it parsley or is it cilantro?

Chili-Man’s grandfather used to own a popular restaurant that could serve more than 300 people. The menu consisted almost exclusively of beef.

However, they did offer one option for vegetarians, and that’s what we had tonight – chicken!

I guess Chilean vegetarians aren’t terribly strict when it comes to their diet. This dish was simmered in white wine, extremely tender, and very flavorful. Mr. Happy had a plate of sautéed mushrooms along with salad, asparagus, and homemade chips. Delish!

Vino, an important ingredient for any meal – Chilean or otherwise.

Chili-man’s temporary digs has a limited amount of cutlery, so he broke out some interesting plastic ware courtesy of Ikea (ICK-ee-ah - as it is pronounced in Malaysia).

For those of you who have heard me complain that Mr. Happy has a knack for always choosing the wrong utensil for the food he eats (eg – a spoon for salad), here is a shot of my beloved eating some sorbet with a fork. A wife can only do so much.
