Beach Bound

On our last morning in Bangkok, we squeezed in my favorite Bangkok activity...a trip to the Chatuchak Weekend Market. This is the most amazing market on Earth. First of all, it is HUGE. You need days to get through it all, and it has EVERYTHING. Seriously, absolutely everything: clothes, food, furniture, paintings, weapons, cowboys, pets…you name it.

We didn’t have much time to spend there, but we made the most of it!

We were in a pretty big rush to get to the airport. The taxi driver gerry-rigged his car to accommodate our luggage (smaller suite cases next time mother and father!!)

Our driver didn’t think we’d make it…but that didn't prevent him from asking to stop for gas along the way! Well, to our great relief, we did make it.

We arrived in Phuket where we were staying at the Hilton Arcadia. The parents' room was decorated because the lovebirds were celebrating their anniversary…

We woke up early the next morning anxious to enjoy our next five days relaxing at the beach and pool.

We kept busy playing tennis.

Take that Mr. Happy!
Competing in diving competitions.
Would you believe there was no splash?

Eating ice cream.

Practicing our putt.

Some of us more than others.
Searching for buried treasure at the bottom of the pool.

Enjoying happy hour sunsets.

Eating.

And eating.

And eating…

The father was delighted when he came up with his own recipe for banana nut bread. (Not sure what the chocolate donut has to do with that…)

Setting off Thai “good luck” lanterns.

And getting lots and lots of massages.

After one “What?” too many, we insisted the father get his ears candled. We didn’t realize they’d turn him into a human cupcake.

We were all happy to take a break from all the running around for a few days.
